God Will Never Fail You!

It has been a cold week here in Florida. That sounds weird to say but it has been abnormally cold...Pensacola even had snow...wow! Out of the ordinary, for sure.

So, lately I've been thinking about things that are out of the ordinary or maybe haven't gone exactly as planned or maybe even are just not what you want. I'm going to take just a short time to explore scripture with you and be encouraged with you. Let's start in Hebrews 13:5.

Hebrews says ..."I will never fail you. I will never abandon you." (13:5)

This verse is repeating what was said in Deuteronomy 31:6. Clearly, God has not changed his mind about us. He said it then and he is saying it now; he won't fail and he won't abandon.

That means that if anything is out of whack and seems wrong, it is not God's doing. Ask yourself... what kind of God would make comforting promises only to lead you down a road that felt like life was missing pieces? That isn't in God's character. His children are precious to him; in the OT and NT. His promises are always for our good. Look at all of Psalm 23 or 91 and pick apart all the wonderful promises God declares. Does any of that sound like we serve a half-hearted God? No.

If you move on over to Philippians, God continues by letting us know that he will complete the good work he started in us and that he'll guard our hearts with his peace as we pray and give thanks and make our requests known to him. It sounds to me like God is doing the work of salvation and growing our faith, yet we have a part to play because free will allows it. We can either be transformed by the washing of water by the Word (reading and becoming familiar with our Heavenly Father) or we can yield to circumstance and keep our eyes focused on those. This life won't be without trouble, even Jesus said so in John 16:33, but we are to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus according to Hebrews 12:2. As we do that, John 6:33 tells us that the Lord will add to us.

In all of these scriptures, I do not see evidence of the Lord wanting to remove anything from us or teach us lessons using upsetting circumstances.

I do see evidence of love throughout the Bible; it's like a mirror for the heart of God, that we can look into and see ourselves as one of the objects of his powerful, never-ending love.

Lots of love, all!
