God's Attributes

Why do God's attributes matter you might ask... Well, whatever you focus on is called meditation because it consumes your thought life to a degree. What if we meditated on the attributes of God? Wouldn't that make the rest so small in comparison? God is love and goodness, kindness, etc. What if our heart meditated on these truths so much that we never doubted God and never wrestled with unbelief? We can do all of this and it isn't hard! We just have to repent or change our way of thinking; renew our minds by letting the Word of God reshape our thinking, beliefs, than words and actions. Here are just a few attributes of God to help you get started on the road of mind renewal.
Exodus 34:5-6
5 Then the Lord came down in a cloud and stood there with him; and he called out his own name, Yahweh.[a] 6 The Lord passed in front of Moses, calling out,
“Yahweh![b] The Lord! The God of compassion and mercy!I am slow to anger and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.
Isaiah 43:10-11
10 “But you are my witnesses, O Israel!” says the Lord.
“You are my servant.
You have been chosen to know me, believe in me,
and understand that I alone am God.
There is no other God—
there never has been, and there never will be.
11 I, yes I, am the Lord,
and there is no other Savior.
1 John 4:7-10
7 Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. 8 But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
9 God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. 10 This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
Titus 3:4-6
4 But—
When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, 5 he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.[a] 6 He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior.
Deuteronomy 7:9
9 Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands.
1 John 1:5
5 This is the message we heard from Jesus[a] and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all.
Isaiah 40:28-29
28 Have you never heard?
Have you never understood?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of all the earth.
He never grows weak or weary.
No one can measure the depths of his understanding.
29 He gives power to the weak
and strength to the powerless.
1 John 1:9
9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
This is not an exhaustive list, but a great place to start as you renew your mind with the Word of God!
Enjoy!
